In short: Salah Bar has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and the developer never receives any of your data. Your settings, your prayer log and the rest of your data stay on your own devices. Features you choose send only what they need to the service that answers: the weather and Nearby mosques send your location, rounded, to the weather or map service; maps load images of the area shown; downloads ask for the files you pick. Each app’s policy below lists every one of them.
This page covers every Salah Bar app. Each app’s full policy, with everything it does on the device and every service it can connect to, is here:
- Salah Bar for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch
- Salah Bar for Android and Wear OS
- Salah Bar for Windows
The section below, on signing in with Google, applies to all of them.
Sync with Google Drive: what Salah Bar does with your Google data
Sync with Google Drive is optional, and off until you tap Sign in with Google in Salah Bar’s sync settings. It keeps your Salah Bar data the same on all your devices.
What Salah Bar asks Google for
- One permission only:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata, which Google shows as “See, create and delete its own configuration data in your Google Drive”. It lets Salah Bar keep its own file in a hidden app folder of your Drive. Salah Bar can’t see, open, change or delete any other file in your Drive. - Your Google account’s email address, only to show which account is signed in.
Salah Bar asks for nothing else: not your name, contacts, photos, calendar or other files.
What is stored, and where
- In your Google Drive, in the hidden app folder (it
doesn’t appear in your list of files): one file,
Salah Bar sync.json. For each of your devices it holds the device’s name and platform and your Salah Bar data: settings and saved cities, prayer log, fasts, Quran progress and bookmarks, the daily wird, tasbih counts, the zakat sheet and, if you use For sisters, the excused days. It never holds your current location or your Google password. - On each device you sign in on: the account’s email address and the sign-in permission (kept by Google Play services on Android, in the Keychain on Mac, iPhone and iPad, and with Windows’ data protection for your user account on Windows).
- Nowhere else. Salah Bar has no server. The file goes straight from your device to your own Drive over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The developer never receives, sees or keeps the file, your email address or your sign-in.
How it is used
Only to sync Salah Bar between your own devices: each device reads the file, merges in what your other devices changed, and writes back its own part. Salah Bar doesn’t use your Google data for advertising, doesn’t sell it, doesn’t use it to train AI or machine-learning models, doesn’t use it to judge creditworthiness, and no person reads it.
Sharing
Salah Bar doesn’t share or transfer your Google data to anyone. Google stores it in your own account, under Google’s privacy policy.
Deleting your data
- Sign Out, in Salah Bar’s sync settings, takes this device’s data out of the file and stops syncing on this device.
- Remove My Data from Drive deletes the file from your Drive, with every device’s data in it, and takes away Salah Bar’s access to your Google account.
- At any time, outside the app: remove Salah Bar’s access at myaccount.google.com/connections, and delete its hidden data in Google Drive on the web → Settings → Manage apps → Salah Bar → Options → Delete hidden app data.
- Uninstalling Salah Bar doesn’t delete the file in your Drive; use one of the ways above.
Limited Use
Salah Bar’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Salah Bar has no accounts and asks no one, including children, for personal information. The developer receives no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
